Playing With Fire.
Date
June 2019
Location
England
The main idea for the 'Playing With Fire' exhibit was to highlight homelessness. I illustrated this piece by taking Englands 'Glory Matches' and removing the tea clipper image from the front of the box and replacing it. We are no longer an empire, we DO NOT rule the wave. This is what we do as a country. Be proud of this, we produce homelessness. The wasted and burnt matches represent lives, thrown away. It is politicians that are playing with fire, treating their own subjects with such disrespect. The match quiz on the rear has no answer and cannot be solved, just like the situation the homeless are in, there is no way out. I took this piece around English city centres and by the end of the tour it was requested to be shown in the atrium of the museum of Liverpool.
