Lifehouse

'Lifehouse' is the third in the homeless series, this time, focusing on the waste of housing by all councils. In this case, Liverpool council. I'd seen a lot of films surrounding houses being knocked down. No narrative, no thought, just buildings demolished. They just anesthetised your senses focusing on nothing but negativity. I decided to interview the people of Liverpool asking what they thought of empty housing everywhere, then asked for their feelings surrounding home, their memories. I used the interviews to make a soundtrack and created five films to play alongside. I then projected the films onto the windows of a derelict property, this way, the house was telling us its own story of life and joy. Only in the final minute do we see destruction of these homes, memories and lives. This was more of a shock to viewers, they are killing the houses, they are destroying homes.
