Amy
Date
October 2019
Location
Liverpool
As soon as 'Playing With Fire' was over, I went straight to work on 'Amy'. A statue to highlight children in unsatisfactory accommodation, again, due to a crumbling housing infrastructure. I also welcomed the challenge of building a statue, I had the idea and process planned in my mind but nothing more. I knocked on the door of 'Castle Fine Art Foundry' in the Baltic Triangle and explained my ideas to Chris, the owner and sculptor of The Beatles statue on the waterfront, Brian Epstein in the town centre and the Truce statue at the bombed out church. He listened politely, assured me it could work and proceeded to ask where I would be building it..."In my kitchen" I replied. He laughed and offered me a room to work from at the foundry. I worked there for a week building Amy, then took her out in Liverpool for a day, watching people take in its meaning. An enlightening day, many thanks to Chris.
